Digital Originals: ASL video
Transcript
This video is for Deaf and Hard of Hearing artists and arts groups, collectives and organizations.
It provides information about a new initiative called Digital Originals by Canada Council for the Arts in partnership with CBC/Radio Canada.
In recognition of the significant impact of COVID-19 on the arts community, the Council is partnering with CBC/Radio-Canada to launch Digital Originals.
This initiative will provide micro grants to artists, arts groups and organizations You can apply to create new work or adapt existing work for sharing online with the Canadian public during the COVID-19 pandemic.
All applicants will be considered for a grant of $5,000 for direct costs related to the project. You can include subsistence and artist fees in the $5000.
You are encouraged to consider accessibility standards when sharing your work online. Costs related to closed captioning and description are eligible project expenses.

Applications will only be accepted through the Canada Council portal beginning in mid-May.
You will need a profile to apply, so create an account and profile if you do not have one.
Remember that the validation of the profile might take up to 15 business days. You can start preparing your application using the preview guidelines but remember that you must apply through the portal. Applying through the portal is only possible when your profile has been validated. So the sooner you send the profile for validation, the better.
Applications will be accepted and assessed internally on a first come first served basis up until 15 June 2020 or until the budget has been spent.

A few more details:
CBC/Radio-Canada will feature approximately 20 selected projects on at least one of its digital platforms. These platforms may include cbc.ca, CBC Gem, tou.tv, ici.radio-canada.ca, and CBC or Radio-Canada branded YouTube. These projects will get an additional $1,000.
If you are interested in this opportunity, please fill out the Grant of Rights and Release in the application form and give us the permission to share your project with CBC/Radio Canada.
You will still own and control all elements of your project.
