The Canada Council for the Arts’ next Annual Public Meeting (APM) will be held at 4 pm (EDT) on March 19, 2025.

This year’s APM will be presented in front of a live audience at Council offices, in Ottawa, and livestreamed online.

Jesse Wente, Chair of the Board, and Michelle Chawla, Director and CEO of the Council, will share insights on Canada’s arts scene, an overview of upcoming initiatives and updates on the Council’s strategic priorities.

Information booths will be included in this year’s event and Canada Council representatives will be in attendance to address program and application-specific questions of the in-person attendees.

You are invited to attend the APM virtually or in person.

Send us your questions.

There will be a question-and-answer period during which we will answer any questions you may have regarding the Council or the arts sector.

We will make every effort to incorporate as many questions as possible during the event.

You can also follow the conversation on social media using #CanadaCouncil25.

“The arts matter to me, and you matter to me. I will do everything I can to lead the Canada Council in a way that serves you, the arts sector. I am constantly moved by the unshakeable creativity and innovative spirit of the arts community—and I am optimistic for our future and eager to work with you to get there.”

—Michelle Chawla, Director and CEO of the Canada Council for the Arts

What is an annual public meeting and why hold one?

As a Crown corporation, the Canada Council for the Arts is legally required to hold an annual public meeting. Beyond the requirement, it is a great opportunity to share annual updates with the arts community and the wider public in Canada.
