Festival International de Slam/Poésie en Acadie Presents Slam and Poetry Thanks to Digital Technology
The fourth Festival international de slam/poésie en Acadie welcomes 36 artists from 13 countries and broadens its digital avenues.
Slam in all its glory
The Conseil provincial des sociétés culturelles held its fourth Festival international de slam/poésie en Acadie online. The Festival invited 13 countries—36 artists in total—to take part in three rounds of the Coupe de slam de l’Acadie, a spoken-word arts competition won by Ivorian artist C’Katcha. With its three open mics, the festival was able to present 50 performances. A school-focussed component shone a light on 10 artists, five from New Brunswick and five from outside Canada.
A broader audience thanks to digital technology
Due to the pandemic, this special edition of the event was livestreamed on YouTube as a series of video conferences. A dozen related workshops enhanced the festival and enabled it to expand its audience abroad. Future editions will be presented both in person and online.
