A Laboratory and a Charter for More Accessible, Inclusive and Equitable Culture

Exeko is launching the Laboratoire Culture Inclusive and a charter on access to the arts to encourage better representation and more diversity in Canadian artistic programming.

A collaborative laboratory for inclusive culture

For 15 years, Exeko has offered various creative approaches focussed on social inclusion. Collaborating with 11 cultural institutions and nine community organizations in Montréal, Exeko created the Laboratoire Culture Inclusive, a three-year project under the direction of the Canadian Commission for UNESCO. The project led to a charter for accessible, inclusive and equitable culture, which is intended to mobilize the artistic and cultural community around an “ethical compass,” to foster access to the arts and to ensure better representation of Canada’s diversity.

A national promotional campaign

The next steps in this process will be to translate the charter, create a bilingual site to feature Exeko events, works and tools, and develop a national promotional campaign.
